Activity 1 Research
Timeframe:
2-3 class periods
Materials Needed:
  • Internet resources page (bookmarked on the computer)
  • Text resources from Media Center

    Technology Needed:
    Computer Lab
    Procedures:
  • Students will use the Internet resources and text resources to research their person.
  • At the end of the first day, students are to generate a timeline of Oklahoma events in relation to their famous Oklahoman.

    Activity 2 Storyboarding
    Timeframe:
    1 class period
    Materials Needed:
    Storyboard template (1 page for each slide/card) - Download Page01.pdf

    Technology Needed:
    None
    Procedures:
  • Students will use the storyboard sheets to plan and design their presentation. 
  • Go over project objectives (see Famous Oklahoman Project Overviewhandout) - Reinforce that they are to show how their famous Oklahoman influenced Oklahoma history and include a timeline.

    Activity 3 Build PowerPoint or HyperStudio Presentation
    Timeframe:
    2-3 class periods
    Materials Needed:
  • Completed storyboard worksheets
  • Presentation software handout for reference

  •  
    Technology Needed:
  • Computer Lab
  • Presentation Software

  •  
    Procedures:
  • Students will build their presentation
  •    
    Activity 4 Peer Editing / Completing the Final Presentation
    Timeframe:
    2 class periods (The first day will be spent peer editing. The second day will be spent making the final changes.)
    Materials Needed:
    Final Assessment Rubric (2 per student) - Download  student rubric.pdf

    Technology Needed:
  • Computer Lab
  • Presentation Software
  • Projection Equipment

    Procedures:
  • Go over the Final Assessment Rubricwith the class
  • Give each student two copies of the Final Assessment Rubric.
  • Students will meet with their partner to edit/access each other's presentation for content, grammar, and design.
  •
