Inquiry Activities




Activity one:  "Where are you landing?"


Objectives:

  • Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the three basic philosophical questions.
  • Students will be able to describe a "Christian World View."
  • Students will be able to identify major aspects of philosophical questions and be able to give scriptures that relate to each question.
Resources:
  • Computers either in class, a lab or outside of class.
  • If using the power point presentation in class a computer with projection capabilities.
  • Article summary, "Where are you landing?"
  • Power point "Where are you landing?"
  • If using power point in class see down load page.
Process:
  • Students will review the article, Where are you landing?"
  • Students will then view the power point, "Where are you landing?"  This can be done in class or individually.
  • A discussion will follow concerning the philosophical questions, and Christian world view.
  • Students will then search for five additional scriptures realted to the philosophical questions.  These questions will be used for further discussion and may be used in the philosophical paper.

Activity two:  "Educational Philosophy Paper"


Objectives:

  • Students will be able to demonstrate in writing their Educational philosophy.
  • They will be able to discuss which of the major educational philosophies most applys to them.
  • They will be able to show their christian world view.
  • They will be able to give scriptures to support their philosophy and world view.
Resources: Process:
  • Students will write a 3 to 5 page paper on their educational philosophy.
  • The paper will be graded by the instructor based on the Educational Philosophy Rubric.
  • This paper will become part of the final project.
