Dr. David Hand

The following questions should be answered when developing a philosophical statement of Christian education:

·         What is reality – metaphysical question?

·         What is the reality and nature of the learner?

·         What is the role of the teacher?

·         What is truth – the epistemological question?

·         What is of value – axiological question?

·         What is the purpose of schooling?

·         What should be taught in school?

·         What and how should the curriculum be determined?

·         What teaching methods should be used?

Special consideration should be given to the following questions:

1.      What are the distinctive characteristics of Christian education?

2.      How should the philosophy of Christian education translate into the classroom?

3.      How should the philosophy of Christian education affect the curriculum?

4.      How should the philosophy of Christian education affect the student’s activities?

5.      How should Christian education affect the student’s future lives?

6.      How should Christian education affect society?
