final project

Students will make a PowerPoint presentation using text and graphics in which they will tell a true story describing a personal experience.

Detailed Outline of Project

On the 10th day of the Unit of Practice (Preterite vs. Imperfect), the Storyboarding Activity is introduced.  Students spend two entire class periods collaborating with one another and putting together the pieces of their PowerPoint presentations.  During this period of time, students will decide on a topic for their presentation and are advised to begin looking at home for photographs or other memorabilia of the specific event.  Students will be instructed as to how to use a scanner during this two-day period, so that they may use their own photos in their presentations.  Students will be given the final project rubric and all expectations will be fully explained so that the students will be fully prepared.  Students will also use this storyboard document to map out their presentations.

On the 16th day of the Unit of Practice, students should be given a 3 class period timeframe to work in the computer lab actually using the PowerPoint presentation software.  The teacher will use a guided practice to guide the students through the creation of their first few slides.  Students will then use the online guided practice to continue on their own and finish up their presentations.  After the three day work period, the presentations should all be completed and then the final class period of the unit should be used for student presentations.  Students will present their story using PowerPoint.  Students should be allowed to use their own notes if they prefer.
